Information about the National Association of Local Councils

NALC at your service…

Who are NALC and what can they do for your council?

NALC represents some 10,000 town, parish and community councils across England and Wales. It is the leading organisation tasked with protecting the rights and representing the interests of these councils. In promoting the role of local councils at the forefront of community democracy, NALC has made 5 key commitments to:

§ Work with Government to develop real community involvement in local government
§ Respond to community need
§ Provide a strong voice for local communities
§ Encourage best value in service delivery
§ Work in partnership with the voluntary, business and public sectors

How can you join?

Councils can join NALC through one of the 52 County Associations nationwide (Full contact details are listed at the NALC website: www.nalc.gov.uk). Alternatively, call 020 7637 1865. County Associations provide direct advice to their members with the added advantage of being in a position to put that advice into a local context.
