Renowned Cornish walks

Article by artavia.seo

If you want to take a holiday to Cornwall, you might want to consider getting a self catering cottage so that you can really come and go as you please and have plenty of time to do what you like. These cottages are also often much roomier than a hotel room, they are generally cheaper, and you can bring more people with you. The whole family or group of friends can stay under one roof. With that in mind, it’s a great idea to plan what you’re going to do in Cornwall. A lot of people like to take walks there because there are so many beautiful things to see. Bodmin Moor is one of the Bronze Age settlements, and there are still standing stones, barrows, cairns, and all sorts of artifacts scattered in the area. Camel Trail is another great choice. It’s more than seventeen miles total, but you don’t have to walk all of it if you’re not comfortable with that. You can simply walk part of it and enjoy a specific area instead of trying to tackle the whole thing. There are farm trails and coastal paths, too, and there are great places to walk your dog.

No matter which walk you might be interested in, or whether you want to do things with a group, with a partner, with a pet, or on your own, there are choices. Walking around is very healthy for you, and who doesn’t want to take a look at the great scenery wherever they are taking their holidays at. If you get a cottage that’s self catering, Cornwall can be a beautiful and wonderful experience that you won’t really have to spend a lot of money on. There’s nothing wrong with staying in a great hotel, but much of the beauty of Cornwall is outdoors anyway, and self catering cottages cost a lot less. They are clean and decent and comfortable places to sleep, so when you’re going to be out seeing the sights most of the time, who needs more than that to come back to? Take some of these famous Cornish walks and really look at, appreciate, and get back to nature. You’ll be glad that you had the chance to experience and enjoy something like that, and it’s something that you and your family can remember for a very long time to come. Memories like that are precious, and you can make them in Cornwall.

Access to Cornwall – Why a Vehicle Ought to Be an Critical Portion of Your Cornish Holiday

Article by Alex

There are plenty of ways to get to Cornwall when you decide that it’s about time you took a holiday there, and a car is definitely among them. Some people might decide that they’d prefer to leave their car at home though, and make use of public transport to get them where they need to go. There are certainly advantages to doing so. You don’t have to worry about the car whilst you’re there, for one, and you won’t be in such cramped conditions with your luggage taking up half the back seats if you go by train or plane, but there are other advantages that a car gives you, particularly when you’re on holiday.

Being able to make your own schedules to get to attractions, restaurants where you want to eat out or even just when you’re leaving is a massive advantage. Brining your own transport gives you a degree of freedom that you simply won’t have if you decide to venture into Cornwall in a car-less state. Of course, you could rent bikes once you’re in Cornwall, which may be a perfectly fine way of getting about depending on how far you want to travel.

There’s also the fact that you can be sure of having transport when you need it. There’s always the chance that busses or trains could be delayed or even cancelled outright, which will put a huge roadblock in your holiday experience. You don’t need to worry about that with a car (unless the car itself breaks down of course).

A car also means that if the worst comes to the worst and you decide it would be best for you to cut your holiday short and either return home or move to another venue, you’ll be able to do so with a minimum of fuss and bother. If you’ve come down by train or plane you have the whole headache of cancelling tickets, booking new ones (which could be very expensive at such short notice) and then making an unscheduled trip to the airport or station.

So, if you decide you can face however many hours it will take to reach Cornwall by car, including any time stuck in traffic jams and possibly with bored children in the back of the car, it’s probably worth it.

Golfing in Cornwall – Cornish Pasties and Pars

Drive just across the Tamar Bridge from Devon into Cornwall and two great golf courses at St Mellion International Resort, Saltash, are in prime position to introduce you to some of the best golf courses in Cornwall. In the beautiful Tamar Valley near Plymouth in Devon, set in 450 acres of stunning Cornish countryside, St Mellion International Resort boasts two superb 18-hole golf courses; one of them a Jack Nicklaus Signature course which has hosted an array of European Tour events.

The Jack Nicklaus Signature course in Cornwall features an Amen Corner not unlike the renowned Amen Corner at Augusta, and includes a wicked but spectacular Par 3. One of the few Jack Nicklaus Signature courses in the UK, St Mellion features the characteristic Nicklaus’ signatures… elevated tees with good views of fairways, challenging water hazards and, in order to score well, the strategic necessity to be able to place the ball. This course is regularly in the UK’s Top 100 golf courses.

Perfectly complementing the Nicklaus golf course the Kernow Course, with its wide fairways and large greens, makes an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all standards and has some stunning views too. It was completely redeveloped in 2008 with new holes being added and many others tweaked.

Enjoying fantastic views over Perranporth’s white sand beach and considered one of the finest links golf courses in the south of England, Perranporth Golf Club (a James Braid design) will certainly test your golfing skills. It’s not a long course at 6,272 yards, but don’t be fooled. Several holes are long and, on the par 5 second, you might well want to consider wearing crampons instead of golf shoes.

Crampons might not be needed at Lanhydrock Golf Course, near Bodmin, but thinking caps are definitely required. It’s a stunning tree-lined course that has been moulded into a sheltered forested valley in the centre of Cornwall and a must-visit golf course if you are in Cornwall.

By the time you’ve finished playing a round of golf at Cape Cornwall Golf & Country Club your lofting skills will be much improved… or completely ruined, as there are numerous dry stone walls dotted around the course, many criss-crossing fairways. Evidence of Bronze Age settlements and old mining works add interesting and challenging natural hazards too. Located at St Just, Penzance, the course offers breathtaking seascapes and, located on a promontory that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean, is looked on as the ‘first and last’ golf course in the British Isles.
